Fellow barbecue lovers, you'll want to save the date for this event in Davenport this fall.

Bar-B-QC will be a barbecue competition happening in Davenport in September. It's a fundraiser for Jaycees of the Quad Cities.

Bar-B-QC will be in LeClaire Park on September 9th & 10th. There will be beer, music, and of course barbecue. But you can't forget the stakes at hand. It is a KCBS-sanctioned backyard BBQ competition, with winners to be announced on Saturday.

Admission will be $5 at the door, with the money being directly donated into the community throughout the year, according to the Jaycees' Eventbrite page for Bar-B-QC.

On that Friday and Saturday, the festival will last from 11:00 a.m.-11:00 p.m. Hopefully downtown Davenport will smell like smoky-sweet barbecue goodness.

The Competition

Consider the gauntlet thrown down. You can still enter to compete if you want to but here's the roster, as of now.

It's a total $7,500 purse up for grabs. The first places in pork ribs, chicken, and pork will each get $1,200. 2nd place winners will get $800 and 3rd place winners will get $500.

The Event

This is only the 2nd year that the Jaycees have held Bar-B-QC and you can get the latest updates ahead of the competition at their Facebook page here. You can also get more details on competing or being a vendor on their website.

As a huge fan of flavorful pork ribs (I'm from outside of Memphis, y'all), I'm so excited to try these pitmasters' creations.
