Dekalb, Illinois Has the ‘Official Corn Seed’ of Major League Baseball. Um, Ok?
There's your official beer, tires, truck, soda and now CORN SEED of Major League Baseball. Say, what...
According to DEKALBFIRE with the "Field of Dreams" game coming up on Thursday between the Chicago Cubs and Cinci Reds, Major League Baseball has a local corn seed sponsor.
What a creative bit of advertising by Major League Baseball...Who is there close by to where to game will be held...in a cornfield, sells corn seed. Well, it's "Dekalb" of course!
As you watch the Field of Dreams game on Thursday, all of the corn that surrounds the baseball field is Dekalb corn, straight from Dekalb, Illinois. So if Ian Happ or Wilson Contreras hits a homerun on Thursday night, it will go into the "Dekalb" cornfield.
Yes of course, I need to say "If you build it, they will come." Or maybe if it's "If you plant it, Dekalb style...they will watch it."
I'm very curious what Dekalb paid for this unique "product placement" advertising? Like Jim Carrey drinking a Coke in a movie, or Will Smith driving a Cadillac in one of his big blockbuster films, this is a great way to get your name and brand out there during a unique event. Here's a great and hilarious "product placement" clip...
So, look for the Dekalb corn, cheer on the Chicago Cubs (gulp) and get ready to get really corny...it is Major League Baseball after all.
