If you don't want to get pulled over by the police, then don't give them a reason to pull you over.  Don't speed.  Use your blinker.  Come to a complete stop.  Wash your car.  Wait, wash your car?  Yep, a clean car can keep the cops away.

This time of year in Illinois or anywhere in the Midwest our cars get very dirty very fast.  All the melting snow and remaining salt on the roads is everywhere.  Don't think driving through that big puddle will help either.  It might look better while your car is wet, but once your car is dry things will look worse and could be so bad you get pulled over.

Police Can Pull You Over For Your Dirty Car

If your car is that dirty could you even see the police lights behind you?  And that is the problem.

The reason they could pull you over is for not being able to see out of your car.

You can keep your car as dirty as Pigpen.  But you need to keep all your windows clean.  If any of your windows look too dirty to a police officer they can pull you over for driving with an obstructed view.

Just like if you have snow covering your window or are using a trash bag to cover a broken window.  If you can't clearly see out, then an officer might pull you over to see in.

What Kind Of Fine Can You Get For A Dirty Car?

It's a lot more than a car wash.

The first offense can be a fine ranging from $50 to $500.  A second offense could result in a Class C misdemeanor with a fine between $100 to $500.

We're not here to endorse car washes but if you are having a hard time seeing out any window you should really get your car washed. No reason to drive around saying "You Can't See Me.".
