There are approximately 194 million Americans on Facebook, out of a population of 335 million. How many of those 194 million actually read the terms of service when they sign up for Facebook or when updates happen? If you are one of the few, then good on you!

But more than likely, many people in the country, especially in Illinois, missed an important update that is coming on January 1st. It's only going to force changes in two states, including Illinois.

There is another update in the pages and pages of terms of service that will affect every user across the world.  Facebook is getting more fact-checkers.

"We work with independent fact-checkers in many jurisdictions to combat misinformation. When content has been rated by fact-checkers, we may add a notice to provide additional context."

So what will they remove posts about the earth being flat?  We'll see when 2025 starts.

"Depending on where you are located, you may have the option to share images with AIs," Meta says in its updated terms of service. "Once shared, you agree that Meta will analyze those images, including facial features, using AI. This processing allows us to offer innovative new features, including the ability to summarize image contents, modify images, and generate new content based on the image."

The key in the terms of service updates is the "Depending on where you are located" line.  It also states, "You further agree that you will not upload images to Meta AI that you know to contain individuals that reside in Illinois or Texas unless you are their legally authorized representative and consent on their behalf."

You read that right...Illinois and Texas agree on something.  And if those two states can agree that something within Facebook is bad maybe there is hope for the other 48 states to follow.
