No position on the Iowa Hawkeye football team gets as much attention as the quarterback. The days of seeing Spencer Petras under center are over. The Hawkeyes have added some nice talent at the position and have also seen quarterbacks leave the Iowa program. The talent portal has provided Iowa with another option at the signal caller position.

The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that former Wisconsin quarterback Deacon Hill has committed to Iowa. He made the announcement on social media on Wednesday. He initially announced that he would be transferring to Fordham before flipping his commitment to the Hawkeyes.

The Gazette reports that Hill is a former 3-star recruit from California. He didn't see any playing time in his two seasons with the Badgers. He will have three years of eligibility left at Iowa and will provide some stability to a position that has seen a lot of turnover this off-season.

Cade McNamara, the Michigan transfer, is the likely starter for Iowa next year with Joe Labas, Iowa's starting quarterback in the Music City Bowl, the number 2 man on the depth chart. But, the Gazette reports that McNamara is still recovering from a knee injury and incoming freshman QB Marco Lainez won't arrive on campus until this summer. Hill will provide much-needed depth during spring practices with Labas taking the majority of the snaps.

The Gazette reports that Spencer Petras is still with the team but faces an uncertain future as he recovers from a shoulder injury.
