
Illinois Skies Will Look Smoky—What’s Causing It?
I predict the skies over many parts of Illinois will start to look somewhat unusual and I have learned the reason why. It also could cause a problem for those who have difficulty breathing, too.

As Fox Weather is reporting, there are wildfires raging in Canada that are responsible for tons of smoke entering the atmosphere and it's headed southward as we speak. The report says that Illinois and especially Chicago will begin seeing the effects of wildfire smoke beginning Friday night. As of this writing, there are more than 160 Canadian wildfires that are burning and most are out-of-control. This is what they look like in motion via satellite.
Why is this wildfire smoke over Illinois bad for you?
The United States Environmental Protection Agency warns that the particles in wildfire smoke can greatly harm your heart and lungs and can even penetrate deep into your bloodstream. This is especially problematic for those who already have breathing problems or conditions. I haven't seen an official warning from the National Weather Service yet, but expect that imminently as this wildfire smoke makes its way southward toward Illinois and other Midwestern states.
