Meet the Olympic Gymnast That Will Soon Be an Iowa Hawkeye
Canadian gymnast Cassie Lee is captivating audiences at her first Olympics in Paris, where she’s already made a mark on the beam during the team competition. Team Canada secured a spot in the Team Finals. The Canadian team, which made history two years ago by winning Canada’s first-ever medal—a bronze—at a world championships, fell short of repeating that success on Tuesday. With a score of 162.432 points, they finished in fifth place, matching their best-ever result from the 2012 London Games.
A reason for Hawkeye fans to get excited
For Hawkeye fans, there’s even more reason to follow Lee’s journey closely. After the Olympics, Lee will be bringing her exceptional gymnastic skills to Iowa City as she joins the University of Iowa’s esteemed gymnastics program. At Iowa, she will not only continue to shine on the mat but will also work towards a degree in dentistry, inspired by her mother’s profession.
