Road Closure Map Released For Popular Annual Eastern Iowa Run
And the Bix is back for year 51.
It's that time of the year again: Bix 7 weekend. The run schedule looks like this:
- Thursday, July 24th: Brady Street Sprints (at 7:00 p.m., with the afterparty at MLK Park 5:30 p.m.-9:00 p.m.)
- Friday, July 25th: Jr. Bix (at 6:00 p.m., on 3rd & 4th Streets)
Then Saturday morning at 8:00, the 51st Quad-City Times Bix 7 race.
Because there are plenty of festivities and parties going on in downtown Davenport on Bix weekend, there are also some road closures downtown. The earliest closures start on Friday at 9:00 a.m. (though Brady will be closed Thursday night for the Brady Street Sprints). The latest a closure will last is the part of 3rd that will be closed off through Sunday morning at 7:00 a.m.
There's a new Bix party on Saturday that will result in more road closures this year: the Motor Row Victory Lane. It will be on 2nd Street between Iowa and Perry. Festivities will continue into Sunday too with a concert from the Mississippi Valley Blues Society.
Parking will be free at 3 of the parking ramps on Saturday until 5:00 p.m. Also important to note that the Arsenal Bridge will be closed to cars.
There will also be a pedestrian path opening on 3rd & Pershing at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday for easier access to downtown.
Meanwhile, on the immediate riverfront, the Freight House Farmers Market will be open 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. and the QC River Bandits will take on Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at 5:30 p.m.
Whether you're running or boozing, stay hydrated my friends.
