Popular Eastern Iowa Downtown Bar Announces Temporary Closure
A downtown Davenport favorite has announced they will be closed for a while.
It's never fun to tell you about restaurant closures, but luckily this one is just temporary.
Boozie's Bar & Grill in downtown Davenport will be temporarily "shutdown for construction", according to a Facebook post by Boozie's.
The construction could take up to 6 months, according to the post. Boozie's says they're working on finding temporary kitchen locations in the meantime. If you know of any temporary set up for them to operate out of, you can email them at booziesdavenport@gmail.com.
According to WHBF, Boozie's has been in it's 3rd Street location since 1979. It's actually the first QC restaurant I ate at when moving here in 2022.
Boozie's menu pride is mostly in their chicken wings and burgers, though they have a number of salads and sandwiches too.
Meanwhile, the conversion of 3rd Street & 4th Street in Davenport into 2-way streets has already begun. As of last month, traffic lights that go west have been installed on 3rd & Marquette. 3rd Street's conversion is expected to be done by this fall.
Downtown Davenport has already lost a number of watering holes this year, though these closures are final. That includes:
- The Garrison (on 2nd)
- Cavort (on Brady)
- Endless Brews (on N. Main)
Last year, another 3rd Street restaurant, Ruby's Bikes Beers and Brats, closed in November.
As for Boozie's, construction and building repairs could take 2-6 months. You can keep up with the latest from the restaurant on their Facebook page.
