Burn Ban Lifted In Scott County Ahead Of Halloween Night

Ahead of Halloween night, officials in Scott County have lifted the county-wide burn ban that's been in place since early October. The Quad Cities has only seen 1.61 inches of precipitation in October according to IEM.

After a little more than a half inch of rain over the course of the past 24 hours, officials with the Scott County Emergency Management Agency have lifted the burn ban.

Officials announced that in conjunction with the local Fire Chiefs and the State Fire Marshalls Office, the Scotty County EMA has determined that the danger to life and property in Scott County, Iowa, has been reduced enough to remove the Countywide Burn Ban.

Scott County’s Burn Ban has been lifted effective 10/31/2024 at 12:00 pm for all of Scott County, Iowa.

You can have a recreational fire in Moline as well. They do not require a permit but there are restrictions including that recreational fires cannot contain leaves or yard waste. They are also only allowed between the hours of 12:00 noon and 12:00 midnight.

Rock Island lets you have a fire too. They have limitations to having a recreational fire like the other cities. Limitations and rules like recreational fires are permitted between the hours of 7:00 am to 11:00 pm. and fires must be attended at all times with a means of extinguishment readily available.
