The holiday season is truly kicking off in Eastern Iowa this weekend. So many events are going on to get everyone into the holiday spirit.

The holiday fun begins with the kick-off to the Quad-City Arts Festival of Trees helium balloon parade in downtown Davenport on Saturday, Nov. 23rd. The parade begins at 10:00 a.m. If you've attended a parade in downtown Davenport, you have a good idea as to what the parade route typically is.

Following the parade, Deck the Downtowns (which begins today, Nov. 21st) will be hosting a Cookie Crawl with several downtown Davenport businesses. Yes, you can get free cookies all while supporting local businesses we love.

The Downtown Davenport Partnership (DDP) will host the Deck the Downtowns Cookie Crawl on Saturday, Nov. 23 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., after the Festival of Trees Parade.

At 26 participating businesses visitors can enjoy free cookie tastings from Blue Spruce General Store, Cookies & Dreams, and Tiphanie’s (while supplies last), plus exclusive deals and fun holiday games and activities.

Crawlers who make five purchases will be entered to win a grand prize giveaway filled with gift cards and goodies to downtown businesses. All the details on participating businesses and activities are available on the DDP website here.

Following the Cookie Crawl, the City of Davenport Community Tree Lighting Ceremony in Kaiserslautern Square will start at 5:30 p.m. Join Davenport Mayor Mike Matson in lighting the 20-foot community tree. Sip on hot cocoa, enjoy cookies, and listen to festive carols performed by QC Rock Academy students.

Deck the Downtowns is a series of jolly holiday promotions encouraging people to eat, drink, shop, and be merry downtown from Nov. 21, 2024 – Jan. 1, 2025. Activities in downtown Davenport include a hunt for the holiday pickle in downtown businesses and the holiday display challenge of painted storefronts.

Deck the Downtowns is a joint promotion of the Downtown Davenport Partnership, Rock Island Downtown Alliance, and Downtown Bettendorf Organization, divisions of the Quad Cities Chamber.

Candy's Back Bar, located at 4751 Progress Drive in Davenport, IA, is open with limited hours but is celebrating its grand opening Dec. 6-8th. Candy's is the latest bar to be owned by Austin and Johanna Chesney, who also own Public House, The Ridge Social Drinkery, and Oak Grove Tavern.
