Iowans Now Have Shattered Glass At Home Thanks To Viral ‘Door-Kicking’ Trend

Social media is still the land of great ideas.

Common sense has officially been kicked out the door. Police in Iowa are warning about a viral TikTok trend that has already been spotted in the state.

One Urbandale home caught teens on their Ring camera doing the 'door-kicking' trend. Here's the video obtained by KCCI:

The home is on 64th Street in Urbandale. The video shows one teen kicking the porch door glass in while the other teen films it and they run away. It happened around 2:00 a.m.

I'm sorry, do you honestly expect to gain social media clout from this? Be so for real.

The 'door-kicking' or 'door-knocking' trend has been a thing for months, with police warning about it since November. It has resulted in felony charges, nothing like the classic 'ding-dong ditch' that inspired it.

Police in Kansas noted that it can result in injuries and possible death for the teen if the homeowner thinks someone is trying to break in:

There’s a criminal element. More disturbing, however, and the reason for this safety message, is the dangers that are associated with conduct in these challenges. So, when you go to a random residence and you start kicking on the door, residents inside can easily mistake that for an attempted burglary, somebody trying to break into their home and cause them harm.

The trend has evolved from the "heartbeat challenge" which involved college kids also kicking or pounding on dorm doors to the rhythm of Kesha's 2012 hit "Die Young".

Authorities are basically saying to let your kid know this crap isn't okay and they can actually end up facing charges or majorly hurt.
