Eastern Iowa First-Year Teacher Awarded For Saving Student’s Life
The second half of the Spring 2024 semester is underway and we are still heading out to a school with our awesome program with Nothing Bundt Cakes and Scooter's Coffee to honor and reward our awesome Quad Cities teachers and educators. It's called QC Teacher of the Week and we are so excited to announce this week's teacher of the week!
It's now time to announce this week's B100, Nothing Bundt Cakes, and Scooter's Coffee's QC Teacher of the Week!
Congrats to Mary Mayer, an 8th-grade teacher at Wood Intermediate in Davenport!
Mrs. Mayer was nominated by one of her coworkers, Katie, for her ability to keep calm in a scary situation:
I work with Mary Mayer. Although I am now a school counselor, I can tell you from experience your first year of teaching is HARD. Teaching middle school during your first year? Seemingly insurmountable task for most. Mayer has strived to improve her instruction to teach students language arts and build relationships, but this isn’t the only reason she deserves accolades: Mary helped a student that was choking and unable to breathe. She kept calm, did what needed to be done to help the child, and continued on with her day as humble as could be. THAT deserves recognition.
Awesome job, Mrs. Mayer!
For being our QC Teacher of the Week, Mrs. Mayer has been rewarded with a B100 Prize Pack including stickers, koozies, and more, plus an awesome cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes and a cup and gift card from Scooter's Coffee!
Thank you for your hard work and dedication, Mrs. Mayer!
