Illinois, You Need To Look At Your Driveway Very Closely

Now that we're all outdoors again, it's time to look at your house a bit closer.

There are a lot of areas of our houses we just overlook and forget about. They're not something we often clean, need, or even use so we don't spend much time thinking about them. Our driveways are a good example. We use them all the time but other than rolling our eyes at the weeds that pop up in the cracks, we don't think too much about them.

It's the time of year when we probably should.

What You're Looking For

Look on the sides of the driveway. Do you see any holes? It's easy to write off any holes in your yard in the spring as belonging to bunnies. Unfortunately, that's not the case for somewhere like your driveway.  Experts say that critters like to burrow under driveways this time of the year, particularly snakes, skunks, possums, and raccoons like to live under driveways. Why not? It's a free, solid roof.

Snakes are already on the move in the Midwest, particularly in Illinois. So there's a good chance they're trying to find somewhere to live for the summer and under your driveway might look really good.

Often, the holes are close to where the driveway meets the house, which is definitely something you don't want.

There's a possibility that it's just weak concrete and erosion but not likely. If you do see a hole on the side of your driveway, reach out to a pest control specialist to see what's in there and talk to a contractor to get the hole filled ASAP.
