Nothing about Super Bowl snacks should be healthy.

What's on your snack lineup for the Super Bowl this weekend? I've got chips, queso, pigs in a blanket, and mini-cookies. But the chips are 'organic' so they're obviously totally healthy, right?

Stats from Instacart and Google searches around Super Bowl week last year looked at the most popular snacks being ordered and searched in each state.

Yep, the most Instacarted Super Bowl item is guacamole for both Iowa and Illinois. Guac is considered healthy (justify it) because of heart-healthy monounsaturated fats, fiber, potassium, and vitamins.

The Other Healthy Favorite

Stats show Iowans are looking up cowboy caviar around Super Bowl season too, which is a bean salad/dip that includes black-eyed peas, black beans, corn, veggies like bell peppers, onions, and jalapenos tossed in a tangy vinaigrette.

So now that we're apparently big fans of healthy dips for the Super Bowl, what are we trying to make?

I Mean...It's Protein?

Meanwhile, Iowa is the only state that really likes beef sausages on Super Bowl weekend, while Illinois prefers chicken wings and Wisconsin's downing the queso (duh).

As for the booze, last year, instead of good ol' domestics like Bud Light or Busch, Iowans apparently preferred craft beers on game day and ones that are made locally in Iowa, according to a liquor store manager in West Des Moines.

It's expected for Americans to drink 325 gallons of beer on Super Bowl Sunday (Iowa, don't take it as a challenge to beat that by ourselves).

top 10 best movies about football

Football movies work because the game is a perfect pressure cooker for drama. Whether it’s a coach trying to hold a locker room together or an underdog fighting for a single play on the field, these stories usually end up being about way more than just what happens between the whistles. They’re about ego, community, and those "get up off the dirt" moments we all wish we had in real life.
