September is over, spooky season is here!

Even if you've waited until the beginning of October to kick off spooky season, it's finally here. I couldn't find the pumpkin and ghost sugar cookies in the grocery store this week. That's how you know.

Iowa Loves Halloween

A study by Consumer Affairs found that Iowa is a really good place to celebrate Halloween. We get into it here. Iowa ranked 16th in the nation for Halloween festivities. The study looked at (using retrospect 2023 data):

  • Most haunted attractions per capita
  • Most Spirit Halloween stores per capita
  • Most online searches for Halloween movies
  • Most online searches for Halloween costumes
  • Most pumpkin patches per capita

They also looked at search interest in things like pumpkin spice lattes, Halloween candies, and Halloween music. They averaged all of this out to give every state a "Terror Tally". New Hampshire is apparently the most festive.
