A country bar in Des Moines is turning 12 years old this week, but unfortunately, it's not having much of a party. Beer Can Alley announced on Facebook that they will be permanently closing very soon.
The Facebook post from Beer Can Alley read:
ATTENTION FAITHFUL CUSTOMERS:As we approach Beer Can Alley’s 12th Birthday this week, it is unfortunately going to be our last in Downtown Des Moines. While we are very happy with our product & food, it just hasn’t worked out with the change in venue. We’ve been beyond blessed to have spent the last 12 years with everyone, and have a ton of great memories. While you never say never, there are currently have no plans to bring the concept back to Downtown Des Moines. This will be the last weekend we’re open, and our last day open will be Wednesday November 22nd. So stop out on Thanksgiving Eve and celebrate 12 great years with us. We still have locations in Downtown Omaha & Sioux City, so please come see us! We are truly grateful to all of our customers & current/former employees. Thank you for everything!⁃ Ownership
So the good news is that you can still celebrate Blackout Wednesday at Beer Can Alley before you go deal with the fam over Thanksgiving. The bar, which is located at 409 Court Drive in Des Moines, moved into a smaller space in Des Moines and started serving food back in February, according to the Des Moines Register.
Beer Can Alley has another location in Sioux City. As of now, that one is set to remain open.
