Pennsylvania Pest Control Specialist Used His Urine When Spraying House For Bugs

HASTINGS, Pa. – Hastings Borough police have filed criminal charges against a pest control worker who allegedly urinated on a customer’s living room floor and couch.

The incident occurred on April 24, and was captured on a camera that had been set up by the resident to monitor her children.

Roger W. Young, 67, of Clearfield County, faces a second-degree misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief, and a summary offense of disorderly conduct for his actions recorded on April 24.

Discovering The Footage

The tenant of the residence at Haida Village Apartments discovered the footage while reviewing the camera's contents for signs of a nuisance spider.

When she saw what had happened, she immediately reported it to her landlord. The tenant, her boyfriend, and one of her children were in the apartment at the time of the incident, but they were asleep upstairs. The woman had left the door open for Young, who she knew was scheduled to arrive.

Young has been in the pest control business for about 30 years and has serviced many of the residents in the Haida Village Apartment complex, according to Hastings Borough police Chief Jason Owens. The tenant was shocked and disgusted by Young's behavior and immediately reported it to the authorities.

What Did He Do!?

The video allegedly depicts Young entering the residence and teasing the family cat before placing his pest control equipment on the ground, opening his pants fly, and urinating on both the floor and a couch.

The tenant shared the footage with their landlord, who then contacted Owens. Owens and the landlord subsequently obtained estimates for the damages, totaling $4,300, which Young must pay. The costs were just below the felony threshold of $5,000.

Confession Time

Young confessed to the crime during a police interview after viewing the video and explained that he had a bad day and apologized for his actions.

Owens asked Young if he had caused similar damage before, but Young said this was the first time. A preliminary hearing before Cambria County Magisterial District Judge Michael Zungali is scheduled for Young on May 30.
