Maine Man Accused of Breaking Into Home and Unwrapping Family’s Christmas Gifts
It's the story of the Grinch, but the guy isn't green... and ...is really sleepy.
Unexpected Intruder Found Asleep on Couch
A Bangor family is facing an unusual holiday disruption after a man allegedly broke into their apartment and unwrapped all of their Christmas presents. Bangor police say 50-year-old Jose Harvey was arrested Sunday following a call from a resident who reported an unknown man sleeping on their couch and refusing to leave.
Bathroom Window Found Open, Gifts Unwrapped
According to the tenant, the situation became even stranger when they noticed their bathroom window had been opened. Inside the home, they discovered that every one of their wrapped Christmas presents had been opened without permission. Police said, “The tenant told authorities that they also discovered their bathroom window had been opened and all their Christmas presents had been unwrapped.”
No Explanation From Suspect
When officers questioned Harvey about why he was inside the apartment, officials say he “could not provide a logical reason why he was in the apartment.” Police took him into custody at the scene.
Suspect Facing Serious Charge
Harvey has been charged with aggravated criminal trespassing. Police have not released any additional details about whether items were taken or the total amount of damage caused. The investigation remains ongoing as the family works to recover from the unexpected intrusion during the holiday season.
