Hawkeyes Win
The Hawkeyes had a huge 47-7 win against the UMass Minutemen, but the big story was that a player had to be carted off and is "moving his extremeties." The player, TJ Magee from UMass, was injured during a punt return.
Kirk Ferentz also broke Woody Hayes' record as the Winningest Coach in the Big Ten. In the postgame press conference, he started his press conference about the record by sending well wishes to Magee.
"First and foremost, our thoughts are with TJ Magee, the player who was injured tonight. Football is a tough sport. It's a physical sport. It would be a great game if nobody ever got hurt. Any time a game gets stopped like that, I think everybody is kind of holding their hearts and their hands on that one."
First Death In Railway History
The first guy to get hit by a train was William Huskisson, who was celebrating the opening of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway in the UK. He was standing on one of the tracks when a train came in, and was fatally injured.
Big Ten Coach Fired
UCLA Coach DeShaun Foster has been let go after an 0-3 start this season on top of their 5-10 record last season.
4 Penalties In Opening Drive
Giants OT James Hudson got benched after taking FOUR penalties during the opening drive for the Giants vs the Cowboys. Twice for false starts, and twice for unnecessary roughness - one of which was this play:
Mike Wolfe
Mike Wolfe shared yesterday that he and his girlfriend, Leticia, were hospitalized after a crash in Tennessee. Leticia has broken ribs, broken jaw, a collapsed lung, and a lot of swelling.
Construction Workers Save The Day
Lieck Construction workers John Lewis, Gabe Record, and Damion Pond all saved the day in Glenwood, Iowa, after seeing a housefire in the neighborhood they were working in. One of the workers ran inside while others moved a trampoline for a kid to jump out of the upstairs window to safety.
There's a Go Fund Me set up for Gabe, who we talked to this morning.
