Kwik Trip To Celebrate Multiple Grand Openings in October

Kwik Trip has officially passed 900 store locations, thanks to several recent openings, and they’re not slowing down anytime soon. The chain, based in La Crosse, Wisconsin, has several grand opening celebrations scheduled for this month.

Recently named the best gas station in America once again, Kwik Trip has built a strong presence across the Upper Midwest, with stores in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, South Dakota, and Michigan.

Kwik Trip's First Store Was Located in Eau Claire, Wisconsin

The company was founded by Don Zietlow on June 16, 1965, and from the beginning, he focused on taking care of his employees. He believed that if he treated his team well, they would return the favor by treating customers well, and he was right.

Kwik Trip’s top-notch customer service is one of the biggest reasons they’re seen as the best in the country. It’s also why Wisconsin officially declared June 16th as Kwik Trip Day, and why the company has continued to grow.

Another key factor in their success is their commitment to quality. A few years ago, I had the chance to visit their La Crosse headquarters, where I learned that all the stores receive fresh daily deliveries from there.

When looking at new locations, they always consider how close it is to their distribution center to ensure each store can get those daily shipments.

Kwik Trip Passes 900 Stores

In just the past few months, they’ve opened four new locations that pushed them over the 900-store milestone:

• Rosemount, MN – Opened August 14, 2025
• Indianola, IA – Opened August 21, 2025
• Sergeant Bluff, IA (store #900!) – Opened September 18, 2025
• Dayton, MN – Opened October 2, 2025
