The Chicago Blackhawks’ New Year’s Eve Party at Wrigley Field Just Got Rowdier

The NHL has big plans for the Winter Classic game at Wrigley Field this New Year's Eve, including a free pregame party and concert.

Hockey at Wrigley Field?

I've seen the Chicago Cubs play at Wrigley Field...I've seen a few concerts at Wrigley Field. The one thing I never expected to see at Wrigley Field though was a hockey game, but that will change soon.

In case you didn't know, for the first time in 15 years, the NHL's Winter Classic is returning to Wrigley Field as the Chicago Blackhawks take on the St. Louis Blues, BUT this will be the very Winter Classic played at Wrigley on New Year's Eve...so of course the party has to be BIG.

2024 Winter Classic Fan Festival

The NHL just announced that a FREE fan festival will be held in the in the Chicago Cubs parking lot at 1126 West Grace Street starting at 10:30 a.m. and running until 3:30 p.m.

The festival will include a bunch of giveaways and hockey-related activities, food, drinks, a surprise visit from the Stanley Cup, and  much more, (see the full list of events here), but that's just the beginning of the fun.

The NHL's website says;

The Smashing Pumpkins will play during pregame festivities and will also be part of the opening introductions of players. Chance The Rapper, who also is from Chicago, will perform during the first intermission.

How cool is that?

I may not be much of a sports fan, but even I will agree that attendting the Winter Classic at Wrigley Field looks like a darn good way to spend New Year's Eve! (Just don't forget to dress is LOTS of layers!)
