RAGBRAI is Coming Through Cedar Falls This Week: What to Know
Heads up if you live or work in Cedar Falls, thousands of cyclists will be cruising through town when RAGBRAI (Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa) stops overnight on Thursday, July 24.
If you’re new to it, RAGBRAI is that big rolling festival of bikes, food, music, and community spirit that winds across Iowa every summer, and this year, Cedar Falls is one of the lucky overnight towns.
Lucky can certainly be used sarcastically, if you wish!
RAGBRAI in Cedar Falls - What to Know About Road Closures
Expect a lot more bikes and foot traffic, especially downtown, where the main activities are happening.

But riders will be spread out all over, staying at host sites and camping spots through town, so you’ll probably see bikes everywhere you go.

If you’re driving, plan for a little extra time and brush up on which roads will be closed or jammed up so you’re not stuck in the middle of a sea of spokes.
Some of the busier areas include 1st and Main, which will see heavy delays as cyclists head out Friday morning.
A few key road notes:
12th Street will stay open, but parking’s off limits.
Greenhill Road will close for part of Thursday (6 a.m. to 4 p.m.).
Leversee Road will be closed Friday morning (5 a.m. to 11 a.m.) when the riders roll out.
Parts of Main, Lincoln, and nearby streets will have temporary closures or no parking, so check the map at cedarfallsragbrai.org/residents.
Cedar Falls City Services Closures
A couple of city services will adjust, too:
Cedar Falls City Hall closes at noon Thursday and reopens as normal Friday.
The compost facility will shut down completely Thursday and Friday, then reopen Saturday.
The city wants everyone, whether you’re riding, cheering, or just trying to get to work, to stay safe and enjoy the day.
