UNI Versus Iowa Basketball Showdown Already Made History
We're inching closer and closer to the end of college football season, so that means that college hoops is just around the corner!
Last season, all that anyone in the Hawkeye State was talking about during the NCAA tournament was the Iowa Women's Basketball team. Caitlin Clark became the it girl in the world of college sports.
Now, there's going to be a matchup in the Cedar Valley that has already broken records before either of the teams have even hit the court. The University of Northern Iowa will be battling it out against Iowa next month AND they'll be playing on UNI's home turf.
On Tuesday, October 24th single game tickets for the game between the Panthers and the Hawkeyes went on sale at around noon. Just a few minutes later, the general admission tickets were completely sold out!
The only seats that were available were standing room and those went pretty quickly too!
Three hours after the tickets went live, officials from the University of Northern Iowa confirmed that both teams made college history.
"For the first time in program history, we have the McLeod Center for a Panther women's basketball game!"
The game is set to take place on Sunday, November 12th in the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls at 2:00 PM.
