Thousands of Quad Citizens are without power this afternoon after a storm with 80-90 mph winds swept through our area.

According to MidAmerican Energy nearly 250,000 customers are without power in the Quad Cities area.  Additional crew members are coming in from surrounding areas to help remove tree limbs, repairs power lines and poles.  Repairs will take multiple days.

Across Iowa and Illinois the numbers are staggering with over 500,000 without power at the peak of outages.

NWS Quad Cities urges you to use caution if you're heading out and allow space for first responders and power/energy crews.

Earlier today severe thunderstorms, heavy rain and 86 mph wind hit the Quad City area. The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities says they're receiving reports of downed trees and damage included a downed tree near their offices.
