Don’t Count Them Out: Southeast Little League Wins, Still In World Series
Davenport's littlest sports stars won their game on Saturday, keeping them in the hunt for the World Series title.
It's the first of two must-win games this weekend for the team to stay in the Series.
They won 6-3 over Northwest on Saturday. This comes after Southeast Little League lost to Indiana in a close game on Thursday, 8-7, that came down to the bottom of the final inning. But since the Little League World Series is double-elimination, Southeast didn't go home after that loss. They went into a different bracket, where they played the Northwest champs.
What's Next
We're still in the elimination bracket so our little leaguers must win the next 3 games to make it to the championship game. We'll next play tomorrow (8/21) at 10:00 a.m. on ESPN against the Mountain region champs.
Southeast's Little League World Series Run
The Southeast kids really hustled in their game with Indiana and played some great ball.
We've been keeping you in the loop with Southeast's trip to the Little League World Series. It's the team's first trip to the World Series for the first time in 47 years! The Little League World Series continues on through the end of the month and a lot of you have had opinions on one team's controversial home run celebration at one of the games. But also let's remember this warm fuzzy moment of sportsmanship. And in Saturday's game, you gotta give it to the other team...this was a great catch.
