After 14 hours and 14 minutes, the National Football League concluded it's 7 round draft of 2019.  After hundreds of mock drafts and numerous forms of reckless speculation either on television or social media, the NFL locked in over 47 million viewers of the draft and more than 600,000 fans visited Nashville to witness the draft in person.

Here is a look at some of the take aways from this weekend:

THE GOOD:

  • Viewership  According to the league, the average audience for all three days of the draft on ESPN, ABC and NFL Network was 6.1 million viewers. That’s an average viewership at any minute of any point in the draft; the first round topped 11 million viewers while viewership for the third day of the draft was obviously significantly lower.  That 6.1 million figure tops the 5.5 million viewers the NFL announced last year.  This is really setting the bar for the NFL Draft in Las Vegas in 2020 very, very high.
  • The University of Iowa had 2 tight ends drafted in the 1st round and 4 players drafted overall.  TJ Hockenson was drafted by the Detroit Lions #8.  The Denver Broncos selected Noah Fant with the #22 pick.
  • Four NFL Draft picks were made from Augustana College on Saturday and were aired on ESPN and the NFL Network.

Pick 190: Minnesota Vikings Armon Watts, DT, Arkansas
Pick 191: Minnesota Vikings Marcus Epps, DB, Wyoming
Pick 210: Cincinnati Bengals Deshaun Davis, ILB, Auburn
Pick 211: Cincinnati Bengals Rodney Anderson, RB, Oklahoma

    • Troy and Jay from "Don't Hassle Us We're Local" got to go on KLJB Sunday 9:30 Sports with Dan Vasko to talk about the NFL Draft:

PART 2

THE BAD:

  • The New York Giants and their terrible pick of Duke QB Daniel Jones at #6.  Although GM Gettleman argues that the team could not have waited to pick him at 17 because he knew of "at least 3 teams" that were going to pick him, we can't get behind a former walk on that they plan to sit for 2 to 3 years.

THE BORING:

  • The constant story of the brides to be and the bridesmaids who claimed that the NFL Draft in Nashville ruined their bachelorette parties.  Get a clue, ladies.  When the hotel is $600.00 per night, that should have been a red flag.  Also what is a red flag is for any young lady who has a negative response to the NFL about the draft.
