The SHARP shooter, brought to you by Elite Sportsbook and Rhythm City Casino is our daily blog that will find the best bets the sharps on on for each day.

Sharps, in gambling terms, are the professionals in the gambling industry.  Rarely do the sharps fall on the "fun" bets like betting on the favorites or betting on the over total.  The sharps usually go against public popular line-- taking advantage of inflated lines and mismatched numbers due to a large percentage of public bets on a certain play.

The easiest spots to find sharp plays are in nationally televised games, primetime games, and big games between popular teams with, teams with star players and rivals that get a lot of air time during the week on sports media.

It is important that you do your own homework and look at trends, as well.  Simply going contrarian against the popular public bet won't always be profitable.  Find the games that work best for your bet and your budget.  Pay attention to sharp trends-- you rarely want to be on the wrong side of the pros.

NFL NOTES:

  • In Week 5 of the NFL we are starting to see the Week 1-4 dominance of the underdog fade back to reality.  Favorites and underdogs went 6-6-1 Against The Spread on Sunday.
  • The OVER/UNDER was 8-6 for the week

LET'S LOOK AT SHARP ACTION TONIGHT:

7:15 P.M. CST, ESPN: Cleveland Browns (2-2) at San Francisco 49ers (3-0)

This line opened at "back from a BYE WEEK" 49ers -3.5 hosting the Browns fresh off beat down of the 40-25 Ravens.  The public rushed to grab the points in this game.  The public is usually more likely to bet with what they just saw over betting with logic.  Despite nearly 70% of the bets on the Baker led Browns, the line has moved to 49ers -5.

Why would the line move away from the popular pick? Because the PROS are fading the trendy dog and bet up the 49ers-- forcing the sports book to adjust.  The PROS got in on 49ers giving up point all the way to the adjusted -5.  Remember, the public does not move the line usually, the sharps move the line.

History also favors the coming off a bye week 49ers.  According to Bet Labs Sports, teams coming off a BYE WEEK have gone 143-97 ATS-- nearly 60%.

There are signs of smart money on the TOTAL.  The OVER/UNDER opened at 48 and has moved down to 47 & 47.5 in some books.

GOOD LUCK AT THE BOOKS!
