The SHARP shooter, brought to you by Elite Sportsbook and Rhythm City Casino is our daily blog that will find the best bets the sharps on on for each day.
Sharps, in gambling terms, are the professionals in the gambling industry. Rarely do the sharps fall on the "fun" bets like betting on the favorites or betting on the over total. The sharps usually go against public popular line-- taking advantage of inflated lines and mismatched numbers due to a large percentage of public bets on a certain play.
The easiest spots to find sharp plays are in nationally televised games, primetime games, and big games between popular teams with, teams with star players and rivals that get a lot of air time during the week on sports media.
It is important that you do your own homework and look at trends, as well. Simply going contrarian against the popular public bet won't always be profitable. Find the games that work best for your bet and your budget. Pay attention to sharp trends-- you rarely want to be on the wrong side of the pros.
LET'S TAKE A LOOK AT WHERE THE PROS ARE LAYING THERE MONEY TODAY...
7:00 P.M. CST, TBS : Milwaukee Brewers (89-73) at Washington Nationals (93-69)
No team in Major League Baseball has been as red hot as the Brewers in the month of September. Despite losing Christian Yelich for the season, the Brew Crew went 18-5 in their last 23 games. Brandon Woodruff (11-3 3.62 ERA) will start for the Brewers and the Nationals answer with the mighty, mighty Max Scherzer (11-7 2.92 ERA).
The Nationals need Scherzer to go as deep as he can in this game. They have bullpen problems. The bullpen owns a season long ERA that is flirting with 6.00. Don't be surprised if Steven Strasburg sees some action on the bump tonight.
Milwaukee will rely on their bullpen tonight. Woodruff will be used as an "opener" and look for him to be pulled quickly after 40 pitches.
The Washington Nationals opened up at -150 and has been moved to as high as -180 in most books. With Scherzer on the mound and the sneaky good Nationals offense (+149 runs scored to runs against- 2nd in NL and 6th overall), the sharps and the public are in a rare agreement tonight.
Milwaukee is considered only a contrarian play for the big money line payout if they win. The TOTAL has fallen a little from the 8 and remains strong at the current 7.5 with the over at -120 juice.
GOOD LUCK AT THE BOOKS!
