The West Des Moines Police Department is looking for someone who shot a gun at a carnival at in West Des Moines on Wednesday night, according to KCCI. The gunshots rang out at the carnival taking place at Valley West Mall (1551 Valley W Dr, West Des Moines), where more than a thousand people gathered to have a fun time.
KCCI reports that police responded to the carnival Wednesday night for reports of two large fights. During those fights, the gunshots were fired which was around 9:30 p.m.
Luckily, the West Des Moines Police said that no one was hit by the bullet. Unfortunately, one person was injured after being trampled when people started to run away when the shots were fired. West Des Moines Police said that was a minor injury, according to KCCI.
A video is going viral on social media the moments the shots were fired. The video was posted by Lexi Fineran. The video is short but has adult language and can be found disturbing to some.
KCCI reports that during the police investigation, westbound traffic on I-235 in West Des Moines was shut down briefly. A handgun the police believe to have been used in the shooting was recovered thanks to a K9 team. The police say that an off-duty officer was the first to respond to the incident.
The West Des Moines did charge a juvenile male involved in the second fight with interference with official acts. Officers are still looking for the person who pulled the trigger says KCCI.
