Wrestling Legend Dan Gable is Doing a Free Meet & Greet in Cedar Rapids
One of the greatest wrestlers of all time is headed to Cedar Rapids next month! Hazzard County will be hosting a free meet & greet with the legendary Dan Gable on Wednesday, March 1st.
Here in Iowa, Dan Gable needs no introduction. A native of Waterloo, Dan attended Iowa State University and ended his college wrestling career with a record of 117–1. Then, from 1976 to 1997, he was the head wrestling coach at the University of Iowa. Dan is considered a hero to wrestling fans, not just in the state, but all over the country! He was even awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Trump in 2020. His Wikipedia page reads:
"Considered to be one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, Gable is a two-time NCAA Division I national champion, a world gold medalist, and an Olympic gold medalist. Gable was only the third wrestler to have ever been inducted into the United World Wrestling's Hall of Fame in the Legend category."
Dan Gable will be stopping by Hazzard County Saloon at 402 2nd Avenue SE in Cedar Rapids on Wednesday March 1st from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. (doors are at 6 p.m.) The Facebook event page says:
"Come rub elbows with Coach Dan Gable as he signs autographs, shakes hands, talks all things wrestling, and invites you to try his very own Gable Beer from Single Speed Brewery at this FREE event!"
