There will be a new place for live music and events in Downtown Davenport.  The 103-year-old building that holds the Capitol Theatre has been restored and is ready to entertain the Quad Cities again,

It's been a 13-year process to get the building and theatre back to the condition it needed to be and now they have it ready with the first show scheduled for this September.

The Capitol Theatre (330 West 3rd Street) is the base of the 10-story Kahl Building.  According to First Fleet Concerts, the theatre has been "rigorously, loving renovated and brought back to its former glory."

First Fleet Concerts work with venues across Iowa including Wooly's, Val Air Ballroom, and more.

The theatre has seen a vast series of events, including films, theatrical performances, lectures, and concerts. Famously hosting Buddy Holly's last tour, 5 days before his death.

There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, July 12, at 3:00 P.M., and then on September 29th the Capitol Theatre will rock again with Blackberry Smoke.

The Capitol Theatre holds around 1500 people making it a smaller option than the nearby Adler Theatre and open music venue of The Rust Belt.

The renovations cost developers $24 million dollars.

You Can Also Live At The Building

All those stories above the Capitol Theatre are open as well with renovated apartments.  The Kahl Lofts feature affordable living with studio, 1-bedroom, and 2-bedroom options.

They also of course offer some of the best views of the city and the easiest way to walk downstairs and check out all the shows at the brand-new historic Capitol Theatre.
