Career Days Look Different These Days as Local Rapper Joins the Panel
My daughter had a "Career Day" recently so we were talking about some of the representatives in attendance. They had cabinet makers, construction folks, plant managers at a nearby machine shop, and a rapper.
They discussed furthering their education and options for which colleges to attend. They talked about going after a job they love and what joy can come from a life that is lived through...wait...
Did you say "rapper"? Like a musical "rapper?"
Yup!
You've maybe heard of Random Tanner. If not, you've probably seen stickers on the back of people's cars and wondered what they were:
Yes, local rapper, Random Tanner was in attendance at "Career Day". But I don't think most of them got how absolutely brilliant that move was.
- Who decides where music trends? Kids
- How do we reach kids? Social media.
- How do we get kids to check out social media? Sign up to attend a Career Day and put the Snapchat profile and link to the music in front of the WHOLE DAMN MIDDLE SCHOOL!!
If rapping doesn't work out for Tanner...you can bet he'd make a killing as a marketer. Check out his merch page if you don't believe me. Any "brand" would kill to have shot glasses, sunglasses, hoodies, lanyards...etc.
I was excited to hear what the Hot Dog lady had to say, but I was pumped to explain to my kids what a great move it was for RT to hit up career day. Totally out of the box thinking.
Kids have so many different options these days. They're super lucky to have a world where "working at the mill until you die" isn't the only box to check.
