A couple of survey results that have hit my inbox have caught my interest and I wanted to check in with sports fans in the Quad Cities and beyond to check their feelings about the state of college football and attendance from sports fans.

BELOW IS A LINK TO A SHORT, 2 MINUTE SURVEY THAT I HOPE YOU TAKE THE TIME TO COMPLETE

The first survey was from a Seton Hall University study. The poll was based around when sports should begin and, more importantly, if Americans would attend games before the development of a vaccine.

According to the poll, of 762 respondents, 72% of Americans said they would not attend games before a development of a vaccine for the COVID-19 virus.  12% said they would attend if social distancing could be maintained.  Only 13 percent said they would feel safe attending as in the past.

Other notable findings from the study:

  • 76% thought the US professional sports leagues acted at the "right time" in closing down their schedules
  • 84% do NOT believe the International Olympic Committee acted too quickly to postpone the 2020 Summer Olympic Games
  • 46% believe that sports will POSSIBLY be cancelled through the end of 2020
  • there are plenty more poll questions in the link provided above but it is important that  on 17% of the 762 people polled only 17% said they followed sports very closely.  37% said they followed sports closely, 26% voted not closely, and 20% elected to admit then do not follow sports at all

Which is why we need you to take to poll that is linked below.  If you are reading this, you are probably a sports fan.

Today, survey results from The Athletic were posted in regards to "College football fan survey: Playoff size, rule changes and every other key result" by Stewart Mandel.

The Athletic is a pay site that provides great content for sports fans.  Maybe you don't have an account or maybe you did not get to vote.

We here at ESPN 1170AM and Don't Hassle Us We're Local have put together a hybrid of both polls.  It is only 10 questions long and should take you no more than 2 minutes to complete.

We would love to be able to report back to our listeners the results.

Thank you.  Stay safe and sanitized.
