Field Of Dreams Is Getting A Facelift
By now, you have heard about some genius who thought it would be a good idea to drive his truck through the Field of Dreams movie set in Dyersville. Read the story in a blog on our website here. Yesterday, I had heard repairs were starting soon with some Quad Cities help.
I talked to Quad City River Bandits GM Andrew Chesser and he told me the River Bandits are lending a hand in helping repair the Kevin Costner movie set. Teams from the Mid-West League including the Bandits, Burlington Bees, Clinton Lumberkings, and Cedar Rapids Kernels, along with the Chicago Cubs are assisting in the repairs on March 14th.
Andrew tells me they are tearing up the old sod, putting new laser graded sod, re-leveling the infield, rebuilding the pitchers mound, and more.
Each teams groundskeeper will lend their expertise, as well as donating their time and resources to rebuild this Iowa attraction.
The River Bandits groundskeeper, Andrew Marking, will be there assisting. He recently won the STMA Iowa Sports Turf Manager of the Year Award. Rightfully so. Modern Woodman Park is beautiful.
I have never been to the Field of Dreams, but it's now on my to-do list. If you rebuild it, they will come.
