Up to six food trucks can set up at a new public space donated to the city of Rock Island. The plan for the space will include parallel benches to comfortably seat 25 people a variety of plants and did I mention food trucks.

According to a QCOnline article the furniture and other amenities will soon populate the corner of 30th Street and 14th Avenue not far from  Kavanaugh’s Hilltop Bar & Grill.

The space is expected to be open for public use near the end of May.

Features of the new space, include a benches, backless seats, tables, loop bike racks, planters, bike inflation station and a bike stand with tools to repair bikes.

Last year,  a propane explosion occurred at a local antique shop at 2963 14th Ave. The building was determined a total loss, and the owner donated the space to the city. It has since been torn down and the lot paved.
