As 2020 events have been canceled one after another, we are all looking for something to do that is open and safe.

This weekend, Father's Day weekend, you can go fishing in Illinois for free.  The annual "Free Fishing Days" runs from June 19-22.  During the 4 days anybody can go fishing without purchasing a fishing license, salmon stamp or inland trout stamp.

This can be the perfect weekend to take the family out and give it a try.  Relax.  Get some vitamin D.  Unplug.  Or if you are an avid fisherman but the young ones have not gotten into it yet, try taking them out to see if they are ready for a full set of gear.  (Under 16 doesn't need a license at anytime in Illinois) Or if you are an Iowa fisherman and want to try some new lakes without buying a license for the year, here is a great opportunity.  I'm just saying, there are a lot of reasons to check it out this weekend.

Of course with any outdoor event, you always have to keep an eye on the sky.  Maybe take the day off tomorrow to hit up the lakes cause Friday night and most of Saturday could be a bit rainy.  Sunday however is looking great!

Check out all the lakes and rivers you can hit up this weekend here.  Good luck catching the big one!
