Yeah, Yeah, Yeah... I know these types of posts should be written on December 31st not on January 1st-- we need to leave last year in last year.

I get it.

But something this well written should not be in the 2020 internet past.  Who are we kidding-- this isn't well written.  Or maybe anything I posted in 2020 was... but here is a look at the top stories of 2020 for each month and the best thing I wrote during that month.  HERE WE GO!!!!!

JANUARY

On January 26th I turned 44 years old but I will always remember it as the day the Kobe Bryant passed away.  I can't describe, as a father to a little girl, the emotions I had thinking about Kobe and his daughter.  Awful.  Still have emotions writing about it now.

BEST POST I DID OF THE MONTH...

My AFC/NFC preview betting was so, so good.  I was only off on San Francisco not covering spread.  Plus, both my prop bets hit.

FEBRUARY

Patrick Mahomes put together one of the greatest season's a young quarterback could have.  Young?  Yeah young.  He is the youngest quarterback to have an NFL trophy and a Super Bowl ring.  The Kansas City Chiefs won their first NFL Championship in 50 years as they defeated the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl.

BEST POST I DID OF THE MONTH...

Before the pandemic threatened all of us, MLB was threatening Minor League Baseball.  Quad City River Bandits owner, Dave Heller, was on the Today Show.

MARCH

Ahhhhhhh..... you guys remember what happened in March, right????? So that is it.  That is the major sports story.  COVID_19.  Coronavirus.

What a nightmare.

NCAA, NBA, NHL, and MLS....

Also, the XFL-- which by the way I was an incredible 15-5 ATS during their short season.

All fell like dominoes.  No sports.  Zero  Weeks as if it was the Wednesday after the MLB All Star Game.

  • The International Olympic Committee postpones the 2020 Olympics to be held in Tokyo, Japan

BEST POST I DID OF THE MONTH....

David Paro, founder of a sports marketing firm- Deep Alliance, wrote a parody of the song, American Pie about the day the sports world died.   You can listen on this link.

APRIL

We worked our butts off as sports fans to try to keep our need for sports filled.  The biggest thing of April was the NFL Draft going virtual.  We got to see more intimate responses from draftees and their families instead of the usual suit, tie, and team hat.

OTHER STORIES...

  • The XFL files for bancruptcy
  • Working out from home becomes a new hot trend

BEST POST I DID OF THE MONTH...

ESPN fast tracked "The Last Dance" and I made a drinking game out of it.

MAY

Speaking of the "The Last Dance"-- the final part of the 10 part series ended this month.  Without sports, this series made appointment television and sports relevant.  It also changed how documentaries (done outside of player controlled production) will be done.  great, great, great docu-series.

  • Athlete's begin to voice in protest
  • NASCAR becomes the first major (I'm being nice because it is a new year) to retun

BEST POST I DID OF THE MONTH...

The NFL has been really great on social media about their schedule release.  I highlighted some of the best NFL teams and their posts.

JUNE

I'm not going to sugar coat it.  There was nothing good in June.  Nothing.  I tried to find something but I couldn't.  It was terrible.

BEST POST I DID OF THE MONTH...

There was a lot of people preaching about how to be socially aware but I felt strong about this post.

STAY TUNED... WILL THE NEXT 6 MONTHS OF MEMORIES GET BETTER???

YES. But it is a real roller coaster of sports emotions.
