Walk Across The Quad Cities’ New I-74 Bridge Before It Opens
With the new I-74 Bridge spanning the Mississippi River between Iowa and Illinois coming very close to opening to traffic, a cool opportunity has been born.
Thanks to the Iowa and Illinois Departments of Transportation, the Federal Highway Administration, and the City of Moline, you can walk the new bridge before it opens.
On Wednesday, December 1st from 1-4pm, the bridge will be open to only pedestrians, for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to walk where decades of vehicles will drive. You must register before the event to take part in the walk (link below).
Think about it like this - pretty soon, over 80,000 vehicles will cross that bridge every day. The current I-74 bridge opened in 1935. Just imagine, 80,000 vehicles a day for 90 years, and you'll be there first.
Starting at 12:30pm, MetroLINK shuttles will be running from the base of the bridge to the TaxSlayer parking lot. The event will run from 1-4pm.
If you're parking elsewhere, the event will take place at the River Drive on-ramp.
The event is registration required, so be sure to get your free ticket below.
