The Kentucky Derby Will See A Horse From Iowa In The Race
Iowa's very own Mo Donegal is running in the Kentucky Derby. Not only that but Mo Donegal is also a favorite to win the derby. At this time the Kentucky Derby is only 9 days away, and now I know who I'll be cheering for!
When it comes to ranking Mo is looking pretty great in the top 5.
About Mo Donegal
This Iowa horse is owned by a group of Iowa investors. Mo Donegal had a big win at the Wood Memorial Stakes on April 9th. According to WHO 13 Mo is now expected to be one of the favorites in the run for the roses at the Kentucky Derby.
Mo Donegal is trained by Todd A. Pletcher and owned by Donegal Racing. When looking at the betting list Mo is in at the number 4 spot.
- Epicenter: 164 points
- Zandon: 114 points
- White Abarrio: 112 points
- Mo Donegal: 112 points
- Tiz the Bomb: 110 points
While the 5th spot debatably has the coolest name, I'll be cheering for our Iowa horse!
About The Kentucky Derby
The race is on Saturday, May 7th at Churchill Downs in Lexington, Kentucky. The websites history states,
Churchill Downs, the world's most legendary racetrack, has conducted thoroughbred racing and presented America's greatest race, the Kentucky Derby, continuously since 1875.
For anyone who doesn't know, the race is often referred to as "The Run for the Roses." So the next time someone says this they are most likely referring to the Derby. It has also been called “the most exciting two minutes in sports.”
Uninterrupted, even when coinciding with profound historical events like The Great Depression and World Wars I & II.
With a great History and a horse from Iowa, I'll be having a great time watching the derby!
