The game that was set aside as Chris Street Remembrance Day won't be played Wednesday night in Iowa City. The reason has nothing to do with the weather forecast.

It's something we certainly don't hear about as often as we did a couple of years ago, but Wednesday night's Big Ten men's basketball game between Iowa and Northwestern has been called off "due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols within the Northwestern program."

That, of course, means that Payton Sandfort (#20 above and below) and Tony Perkins (hugging #1 Ahron Ulis below) won't have the opportunity to stay hot. Sandfort has scored 60 points in Iowa's last three games, while Perkins put up a career-high 22 against Maryland on Sunday.

According to the University of Iowa Sports Information Department, both Iowa and Northwestern are working with the Big Ten to reschedule the game. Iowa is currently in a 3-way tie for 4th place in the Big Ten at 4-3 (12-6 overall), while Northwestern is 3-3 in conference play and 12-5 overall.

Wednesday night's Iowa men's basketball game against Northwestern was scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. on Big Ten Network. Immediately afterward, the Big Ten Network was going to air 'The B1G Story: Chris Street.' The University of Iowa says the Big Ten Network will now air the documentary at approximately 8 p.m. Wednesday night, instead of 10 p.m. This Thursday, January 19, is the 30th anniversary of Street's death.

After the documentary, the Big Ten Network will air the Iowa-Michigan game from January 31, 1993. It was Iowa's first home game after Street's passing.

The 2022-23 Hawkeyes' next game is Saturday, January 21 at 1 p.m. It will air on Fox.
