FBI Reveals Most Dangerous Places In America; Includes MN And WI Cities

Well, this isn't exactly the kind of list you want to land on. The FBI recently revealed their list of the most dangerous cities in the country. They narrowed the list down to the top thirty-five and it does include one city in Minnesota and one in Wisconsin.

The list was released to the public in November because nothing says 'happy holidays' like a list of the most crime-ridden places in the country. Nevertheless, it is good to be aware of these spots when they are close to home.

How Did The FBI Come Up With This List?

The FBI looked at property crime rates and violent crime rates using estimated population sizes. It should come as no surprise that, for this reason, most of the cities on this list are large.

Which Minnesota City Made The List?

This probably won't shock you. Minneapolis made the cut, coming in at number sixteen on the list. The FBI cited the reason why, writing;

Minneapolis has a lot of crime, although it tends to have higher property than violent crime. Nevertheless, it still has a bad violent crime rate of 11.95 per 1,000 people.

While Minneapolis does have some great things to do and see, it does have a lot of crime, so it's not a huge surprise it made this list. It was also recently named one of the rudest places in the nation but oh well.

Which Wisconsin City Made The List?

Milwaukee came in at number twenty on this list and for a bunch of pretty scary reasons. The FBI report puts it at number twenty for the following reasons, writing;

Drug trafficking and murders, among other crimes, place Milwaukee in 20th place on this list of the most dangerous U.S. cities. Milwaukee has a violent crime rate of 11.51 per 1,000 people.

In May, Milwaukee was named one of the most dangerous cities in the country by a publication. It is well-known that Milwaukee deals with their fair share of crime and this puts that into perspective.

Detroit came in at number two with Little Rock, Arkansas rounding out the top three. Cities in Colorado, Texas and Illinois made the list as well. Even Billings, Montana made the list.
