Rock Island Arsenal Bridge Will Close This Saturday For Cleaning
When you see the color orange this time of year, it's normally all of the pumpkins and Halloween decorations that are being put up. But let's face reality, it's the Quad Cities, and the orange color we see is all about road construction and road work.
There is a ton of road work going on throughout the Quad Cities and while many of these roads need to be fixed, it's a pain in the butt to get from point A to point B using a "normal" route.
If you frequently go over the Government Bridge (a.k.a. the Arsenal Bridge), you might want to pick one of the other 4 bridges in the metro to get to whichever side you're going to because it will be closed for awhile this weekend.
Arsenal Bridge To Be Closed Saturday For Cleaning
Officials from the Rock Island Arsenal announced that the bridge will be closed this Saturday for cleaning.
The Directorate of Public Works will close the Government Bridge to vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic on Saturday, Oct. 5 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. to clean the underside of the bridge and rail deck.
Appropriate signage will be used to warn and direct traffic during all activities.
Other Traffic You Should Know About
W Locust Street between Clark and Lincoln is getting a well-deserved resurfacing and things are moving along nicely. It looks that way unless you drive on it every day like me, and then it feels like a nightmare.
They have the southern lanes of Locust Street paved, they need to just put some lines on it and do the other side. The project is expected to wrap up in mid-November.
Down a little ways on East Locust Street between Grand and Eastern, crews are doing milling, curb, and pavement patches leaving one lane in each direction open.
That's a lot of work on one long road.
Have patience and make sure you take it nice and easy through construction around the Quad Cities.
