It was a night of March Madness the team from Michigan will never forget and one that Kentucky fans hope to erase from their memory quickly.

In the First Round of the 2023 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, the top-seed Purdue Boilermakers ran into 16-seed Farleigh Dickinson who pulled off the historic win 63-58.

The only other time a 16 beat a 1-seed was in 2018 when the world learned what UMBC stood for. The University of Maryland-Baltimore County was the 16-seed and, at the time, was the first-ever to beat a top seed in the tournament when they took down the University of Virginia 63-58

Pewaukee, Wisconsin Native Helps Lead 14-seed Oakland Over 3-seed Kentucky

"We're not a Cinderella."

That was the statement of Pewaukee, Wisconsin's Jack Goehlke after he led his team to a victory in the First Round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament in Pittsburgh on Thursday night (3/21).

Goehlke is a sixth-year graduate who plays for the Oakland Golden Grizzlies out of Michigan and in the biggest game of his life stepped up historically.

Number 3 is Jack Goehlke's number and he had a lot of them against the Kentucky Wildcats who were heavily favored to win the game. He went 10 for 20 from 3-point range and scored 32 points to lead the 14-seeded Oakland over 3-seed Kentucky 80 to 76.

The NCAA Men's Basketball tournament record for 3-pointers is 11 by Jeff Fryer in 1990, according to Detroit Free Press.

Goehlke was only one away from tying the record with his 10 made three-pointers, while Kentucky's entire team went 9 out of 27 from 3-point range.

Goehlke played for Pewaukee High School and then Division II Hillsdale College before transferring to Oakland as a graduate student. Oakland will now play the winner of 6-seed NC State and 11-seed Texas Tech when Jack, number 3, will attempt to jack up a lot more 3-pointers on Saturday in Pittsburgh.
