Moline Wants Public Input On Future Of I-74 Corridor
The City of Moline is looking for the public's help when it comes to the future development of the I-74 corridor. Tonight, Moline Mayor Sangeetha Rayapati, along with 3rd Ward Ald. Mike Wendt, is hosting the mayor’s fourth “Listening Post” public meeting which is focused on coming up with future development ideas for the I-74 corridor.
In a press release, Renew Moline and the City of Moline invite the public to provide input about the future of the I-74 Corridor downtown Moline through participation in one of two in-person and virtual meetings as well as an online opinion survey. Renew Moline will lead the input session and discuss opportunities presented in the Urban Land Institute Advisory Panel’s Final Report and encourage the community to think big for several areas along the riverfront and how they could improve each space.
There are two opportunities to participate. One way is in-person today, Tuesday, September 28, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Heritage Church - BridgePointe (485 River View Room) in Moline. This is the link to register for tonight's meeting.
The other way to participate is via Zoom events where participants may offer ideas for each site. The Zoom events are free, but registration is required. The next Zoom event is Wednesday, October 6, Noon-1:00 p.m. This is the link to register via Zoom on Wednesday, October 6.
Visit www.renewmoline.com/big-ideas/ to register for one of the above event times.
The City of Moline and Renew Moline is also inviting the public to participate in an online survey to provide input on the future redevelopment area.
For those unable to participate in one of the virtual events, the Urban Land Institute’s Final Report is available on the Renew Moline website.
Officials say the goal of these events and activities is to gather ideas about what projects are important to the community and how they can improve these public areas.
These concepts will ultimately become suggestions for the City of Moline to consider what projects the community would like to see develop in the I-74 Corridor and establish and promote a clear vision for new developments that align with the City’s economic development and urban design goals.
