Our Favorite Prop Bets For Super Bowl LV
It is finally that special day of the NFL season-- Super Bowl Sunday. What a great day that will be filled with friends, parties, and football. Enjoy the day the best you can while social distancing. Anyway, outside of the commercials there are other ways to enhance your Super Bowl experience. We are talking about prop bets and our friends at Elite Sportsbook has many for you to place a wager on today for the game. We didn't go fishing for value and lottery tickets-- we just looked at what might get you some change in your pocket. Let's take a look at a few that we like...
ROB GRONKOWSKI OVER 2.5 RECEPTIONS (-140) AND OVER 29.5 RECEIVING YARDS (-120)
Here is the thought process behind this... The Super Bowl, although with limited fans, is still the biggest game of the year and teams will come out trying to figure each other out. Tom Brady will look toward familiarity while moving the team down the field during the first two opening drives. That familiarity will be Rob Gronkowski. Also, Gronk is just 5 receptions away from becoming the 2nd all time receptions leader in Super Bowl history and 40 receiving yards away from becoming the 2nd in Super Bowl receiving yards history according to Pro Football Reference.
SAMMY WATKINS OVER 2.5 RECEPTIONS (-180)
Tyreek Hill is going to get his targets and yards but there is no way the Buccaneers secondary is going to get torched for 269 yards again. Hill will be double and tripled teamed today. Kelce will be shadowed by the very fast linebackers from Tampa Bay. Watkins, although he has not played since December 27th, is healthy and it is a near lock that he gets the over. In 10 games that he was healthy in 2020, Watkins averaged 5.5 targets per game and 3.7 receptions per game. In the previous meeting with Tampa Bay, Sammy had 4 receptions on 7 targets for 38 yards.
DARREL WILLIAMS OVER COMBINED RUSHING + RECEIVING YARDS 41.5 (-110)
Williams looks to continue to be the Chiefs best back despite Clyde Edwars-Helaire returning for the AFC Championship. In the Chief's two post season games, he has 130 total rushing yards. Tampa Bay has the leagues best rushing defense, so look for the Chiefs to try multiple sets getting receivers and RUNNING BACKS screens and to the flats to move chains.
TOTAL SACKS COMBINED: OVER 3.5 or more (-130)
Tampa Bay has the very good defense that is fast and aggressive. In the first meeting against Kansas City they had only 2 sacks-- one each by Jason Pierre-Paul and the other by Shaq Barrett. Now, Ndamukng Suh and Vita Vea are healthy. Kansas City offensive line is really hurt. Tampa Bay got to 5 against Green Bay in the NFC Championship, I think they do the same today. Plus, Brady is going down for at least one sack.
MORE RUSHING ATTEMPTS CHIEFS VS BUCCANEERS: BUCCANEERS (-110_
It is everything we have previously wrote about. Chiefs are not going to attempt to run between the tackles in this game. They will open up the passing routes and don't be surprised to see Tyreek Hill in the backfield are than a few times. Tampa, on the other hand will want to control the clock. This is a no brainer.
TOTAL NUMBER OF PUNTS IN THE GAME: UNDER 6.5 (-120)
Nether team really likes to punt and neither coach likes to give up an opportunity to score. Chiefs games have averaged less than 7 punts per game, while Bucs games averaged slightly above 7 punts per game. However, the Chiefs have only punted once in two playoff games combined, while the Bucs have only punted nine times in their 3 playoff games.
LARGEST LEAD BY EITHER TEAM: UNDER 16.5 (-130)
A team has only lead a Super Bowl by 15 or more points in just 4 of the last 17 Super Bowls. I just don't see a blow out here. Take the money and run.
Moving away from the phenomenal bets that Elite Sportsbook has to offer... here is an alternate prop bets that we like in this game.
THE NATIONAL ANTHEM OVER 2:00
This bet, the coin flip, and the color of the Gatorade are the most popular of the arbitrary prop bets. This year the National Anthem will be a duet between Eric Church and Jazmine Sullivan. There is a problem here... the bet may not still be on the table. A reporter in Central Florida video taped the practice of the song on Friday and the OVER looks to hit. He has caught a lot of trouble over his post. Here is a link to the New York Post article.
FINALLY...
I'm taking the +3.5 points and backing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers today. I am shy to the over of 56 but my final score
TB 37
KC 31
Screams over.
