Road Construction In Bettendorf Will Frustrate Drivers For Years To Come
The northeast side of Bettendorf is booming with home and business construction. The area by the TBK Sports Complex will soon also have a golf and entertainment venue called "Iron Tee Golf".
But with all this construction also comes all the road construction. And it's not going anywhere for many, many years. However, when it's done, as you can see below, it will look and hopefully work great for drivers. Assuming they can use roundabouts.
A New Gateway To Bettendorf
The Forest Grove Drive and Middle Road corridors are already filled with business. If you have a child in any sport you probably have been to the area at the TBK Sports Complex. But there is much more than that. Shops and restaurants also line the road that is already under construction.
And it is definitely already having an impact on these locations. Personally, having been to some of these restaurants before construction and now, there is a noticeable difference in the number of people.
The construction is only in Phase 1.
While the construction got underway in July of this year, it's only Phase 1 of a three-phase plan.
This current construction is set to be completed in November. But then begins, Phase 2. Get ready for more significant detours to get to the area.
This phase and these new routes will last until September 2023.
But wait there's more!
Scheduled to start in September of 2023 and last until November 2025 is Phase 3 of the construction.
This one shouldn't be as bad though. The construction will be on Middle Road from the Competition Drive intersection to just south of I-80. While access to Competition Drive from Middle Road will be closed, traffic will be detoured to Forest Grove Drive which is just a quick skip down the road.
So what is all this construction leading towards?
This is how traffic will flow and what will be in place when it's all done. Look at all those roundabouts. Are you good with those? Cause a lot of people are not.
Roundabouts with walking and biking paths crossing.
Might be better to use the pedestrian bridge to cross the road.
Trails, monuments, and more as the new gateway to Bettendorf.
This is how it will all look in 3ish years.
Then you can walk happily along like these people.
Until the construction is complete, it will be a big frustration for drivers trying to maneuver around the area.
As that construction takes place, take the time to check out some of the shops and restaurants in the area. They could use your support, and more than likely you won't have to wait for a table, just wait for the construction.
