Don't want to do grocery shopping? Now you don't have to even leave your easy chair thanks to a company called InstacartThe Quad City Times reports Instacart is now available for people to use in the Quad Cities area. Here's how it works: You sign up on the Instacart site or app and then do your shopping via the site or app.

Your order then goes to an Instacart shopper who goes to your store, does the shopping, then delivers it to your house. This convenience comes with a cost though. It's $5.99 for an order over $35.00 or you can get a site membership for $14.99 per month or $149 a year. The memberships entitle you to unlimited same day delivery! Sometimes in an hour or two.

In my mind a site membership, called Instacart Express, is definitely worth it if you're happy shopping on the site or app and do your weekly shopping that way. That said, Walmart offers grocery pick up for free. The main difference? You have to show up to the store to pick up your groceries. Hy-Vee offers both pick up and delivery and they charge based on your order size and whether you're going to pick it up or have it delivered.

Kathy and I have had good luck letting Walmart shop for us and picking up our groceries and other purchases from them. At no charge the price is right too. If you've used any of these services what's your experience with them?
