The Wisconsin State Fair has been a tradition for 169 years.  For just the 6th time in it's history, it will not be taking place this year.

Fair officials have announced the 2020 fair will not take place in any capacity due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  The fair was scheduled to take place August 6-16 at the fair grounds in West Allis, Wisconsin just outside of Milwaukee.

The fair is facing a $4.5 million dollar loss this year due to closing the fair.  However, officials stated the loss would have been worse if the fair took place.

The announcement comes days after the Minnesota State Fair was cancelled as well. The Minnesota State Fair saw a record 2.1 million visitors in 2019 while Wisconsin recorded 1.2 million over the course of the fair.

No word yet on the Iowa State Fair or the Mississippi Valley Fair at the publishing time of this story.
