2000 Championship Team To Be Honored
Quad City Steamwheelers officials announced today they will be honoring members from the Inaugural Season of 2000 at the 2020 Season home opener on Saturday Night March 21st. Select coaches and players from the 2000 season will be introduced during pre-game ceremonies as well as signing autographs on a commemorative team poster featuring both 2000 and 2020 rosters. The first 5,000 fans attending the game will get one of the commemorative posters.
"We are excited to be honoring the 2000 team at our home opener almost 20 years to the date of their inaugural game here at the TaxSlayer Center” said current Steamwheeler Owner Doug Bland. "It’s a really cool thing for Jim Foster, coach Frank Haege and many players from the 2000 season to celebrate their accomplishments 20 years later with the fans of the Quad Cities” stated Bland.
“I am so excited to come back to the Quad Cities and see all the fans and players from the Inaugural Season and watch the new Steamwheelers play the Rattlers” said former coach Frank Haege. “I know Shon King and many others are planning on being here to celebrate with everyone 20 years after we made history with our undefeated season”
Saturday Night March 21st kicks of the 3rd Season of the Steamwheelers return and their 2nd season in the IFL, The Indoor Football League has become the premier league in the Nation with 14 teams Nationwide. The Arizona Rattlers, undefeated in the regular season whos only loss came in the United Bowl against Sioux Falls will make their first ever appearance at the TaxSlayer Center on Saturday Night March 21st. “The Rattlers are a good team, but we are up for the challenge in the opener, I know we will have the team to go toe to toe with them” said Steamwheelers Head Coach Cory Ross.
